Before you pay
- Ask which temperature zones they run (frozen, chilled, ambient) and how temperatures are monitored and logged.
- For food, ask for their FDA registration and food-safety audit (e.g. SQF or BRC) and pest-control records.
- Get pricing per pallet, handling and any blast-freezing or minimum charges.
- Ask how they handle power failures (generators) and product-loss liability.

How much does cold storage cost?
Cold storage costs more than dry storage because of power and equipment. See our cost guide for dated estimate ranges per pallet and always get written quotes.

Chilled (cooler) storage is usually about 33–40°F for fresh produce, dairy and some medicines. Frozen storage is usually 0°F or colder for frozen food and ice cream.
Who moves refrigerated freight?
